Turkey Day -- The Food
Day 331 (Nov 27) The menu included my Roast Upside Down Turkey I've been making for a few years now and gravy made with the drippings (which were impressive in volume this year!), GF stuffing made my me and wheat/sausage stuffing made by Chase, Mashed Potatoes made my usual way with butter potatoes and lots of Earth Balance, Sweet Potato Hash like I've made many times (pictured), Green Beans (fresh and just parboiled and salted), Steamed Asparagus, Cranberry Sauce (both my homemade which came out thick and chunky this year) and the silly canned stuff, crescent rolls brought by Heather, 2 Pumpkin Pies, an apple crisp, vanilla pudding for a whipped cream substitute (we were supposed to have whipped cream too, but forgot to whip it), Fudge, Eggplant Caviar, Crackers and cheese, and Caprese made with Caroline-safe cheese alternative. I'm listing the appetizers in there too, which were served two and a half hours before the dinner, when people were arriving. Oh! Also Heather brought brownies and Chris brought a lemon meringue pie. Unsual for us, we even had several drinks available: milks (both dairy and coconut, neither of which anyone chose), raspberry lemonade, regular lemonade, cranberry juice, apple juice, apple cider (Heather brought some of them).
